Between The Lines of...
Chamber of Secrets

-When Harry is in detention and is answering Lockhart's fan mail, the first letter is from a witch named Gladys Gudgeon, who Lockhart says is a "huge fan of mine." In Order of the Phoenix, we find out that Gladys still often visits him at St. Mungo's, even though he has lost his memory.

*Spoiler Warning!
-The Vanishing Cabinet that Malfoy had repaired in Half Blood Prince to let the Death Eaters into Hogwarts was broken by Nearly Headless Nick to distract Filch from punishing Harry.

-Nearly Headless Nick was killed on October 31, 1492, exactly 491 years after the Potters were killed.

-When Harry said he felt as though Dumbledore was x-raying him (Chapter 9, page 144, par 3), he really was, since Dumbledore can read minds.

-If the Chamber of Secrets was opened when Riddle was sixteen, and it had been fifty years when Harry was in second year, then Voldemort should be sixty now. Ew.

-Before Dumbledore was Headmaster, he taught Transfiguration, which McGonagall taught up until Dumbledore died (R.I.P.). This means that if McGonagall stops teaching Transfiguration to be Headmistress for good, then we should be able to figure out who the next Headmaster/Mistress is going to be based on who the new Transfiguration teacher is!
