Deflating Draft- Antidote to the Swelling
Solution (see below). Given by Snape to numerous people in Harry's Potions class when Goyle's Swelling Solution was splashed
all over the room.
Hair-Raising Potion- Although the
affects of this potion are never actually specified, we can guess that it is made to raise the hair of the drinker. In COS,
Ron tells Harry that he wished he had asked Hermione how many rat tails you were supposed to add to this after they left the
Hospital Wing (she was there recovering from her incident with the Polyjuice Potion).
Love Potion- Causes the drinker to
fall in love with the person whom the Potion indicates (we are not sure exactly how this works-- is it like the Polyjuice
Potion, except you add a bit of whoever the drinker is to fall in love with)? Lockhart tells the students to ask Snape to
show them how to brew this at breakfast on Valentine's Day (Snape's response: "Snape was looking as though the first person
to ask him for a Love Potion would be force-fed poison").
Polyjuice Potion- Very
complex potion which involves the addition of ingredients found only in Snape's private stores. When brewed properly,
it's finished form should be glutinous and bubbly, and emit black smoke. The Polyjuice Potion will transform the drinker into
another for one hour. The drinker's new form is determined by the owner of the hair, toenails, etc., which is added to the
potion as the last ingerdient. Both the drinker's appearance and voice will change upon the consumption of the Polyjuice Potion.
Brewed by Harry, Ron, and Hermione in COS so that they could find out about the Chamber of Secrets from Malfoy.
Swelling Solution- Causes
anything who comes in contact with it to swell to swell to several times its normal size. Affects can be reversed with a Deflating
Draft (see above). Splashed onto numerous people during a Potions class in COS, when Goyle's cauldron was hit with a Filibuster's
Firework thrown by Harry in order to distract Snape so that Hermione could break into his private stores and steal ingredients
for the Polyjuice Potion.
Sleeping Draught- Puts the drinker
into a deep sleep for a time. Hermione fills two fat chocolate cakes with a simple Sleeping Draught in COS for Crabbe and
Goyle to eat at Christmas, so that it was safe for Ron and Harry to use the Polyjuice Potion without them barging in and Malfoy
realizing what was going on.
