DEMENTOR
The dementor is among the most foul creatures in the world (Magical and
Muggle). They are tall, hooded, and blind, with only gaping holes for mouths and excellent senses of smell (this is how they
detect living rthings in their vicinity). Dementors are the guards of Azkaban, and have the power to administer the Dementors
Kiss (such out the victim's soul through their mouth). When you get close to a dementor, you re-live the worst moments of
your life, feeling as if you will never be happy again, and you will be washed with a sensation of terribly chilling cold.
They draw deep, rattling breaths, and glide across the ground rather than walk.
DRAGON, COMMON WELSH GREEN
A wild dragon still inhabiting Britain. Mentioned by Ron when he, Hermione
and Harry found out that Hagrid has gotten hold of a dragon
DRAGON, HEBRIDIAN BLACK
Another wild dragon still inhabiting Britain. Also mentioned by Ron when
he, Hermione and Harry found out that Hagrid had gotten hold of a dragon
DRAGON, NORBERT THE
The Norwegian Ridgeback dragon that Hagrid wins off of Professor Quirell
(although he didn't know it was Quirell) in the Hog's Head. Harry, Ron and Hermione eventually convinced Hagrid to give him
up to Charlie, who was studying dragons in Romania. When Professor McGonogall catches Harry and Hermione out of bed at one
o'clock in the morning after they had smuggled Norbert out to a couple of Charlie's friends (Neville was also caught following
them), which landed all three of them in detention in the Forbidden Forest, where Harry encounters Voldemort and Quirell
drinking Unicorn's blood.
DRAGON, NORWEGIAN RIDGEBACK
This is the type of dragon the Norbert is. It is very rare, and before
it hatches, it grows in a huge, black shell. When you breed a N.R., you must keep it in fire until it hatches (to mime the
constant breathing of their mothers), and once it does hatch, it requires the consumption of half-hourly buckets of brandy
mixed with chicken blood. They have spiny wings, which are huge in comparison to their tiny jet black bodies. Harry describes
the baby N.R. as a "crumpled, black umbrella."
