Ollivanders is the shop where almost all young wizards go to get their
wands. There are other wand shops, although Ollianders is by far the most trusted and popular. It is a ting place, with walls
covered floor to ceiling with neat boxes of wands. There is no furniture, except for a single, spindly chair by the front.
When you step inside, a bell tinkles somewhere deep in the back, and Harry says that "the very dust and silcnce in here seemed
to tingle with some secret magic." It is a family owned business, and was run by a kindly old man (Mr. Ollivander) who could
remember every wand he had ever sold (as far as we know), until the sixth book, when he dissiappeared (probably murdered by
a Death Eater or Voldemort when he refused to join them... well, that's my theory, anyway).
A Note From Evangeline-Eve:
To the right, you can see a chart of all of the wands mentioned
by Mr. Ollivander. My thoughts on this? Well, let's see. Notice how Harry's and James' wands are exactly the same length-
11 inches. Exactly alike- just like everything else about them (except Harry's eyes, of course, which are exactly like
Lily's). Also, notice how Ollivander says that James' wand was excellent for Transfiguration. Wasn't James an Animagus? =)
Also, he says that Lily's wand was nice for Charm work. Well, according to J.K. Rowling, we are going to find out something
really significant about Lily... and according to the rumors, that something has to do with Charms.... I don't know,
folks, but it looks like this whole business is leading to something big... Thanks for listening to my mad, obsessive raving
=)
