Gringott's

Gringotts is the only wizard bank (at least in this country). It is located at the very end of Diagon Alley, and dwarfs the other tiny little shops. Gringotts is a snowy white building with bronze doors. At the very front entrance stands a goblin in a scarlet and gold uniform (the Gryffindor colors =). It bows you inside, where you face a pair of golbins standing next to silver doors. On those silver doors is the inscription to your right, in the mud-colored box. The goblins bow you through the doors to the front of the bank, a massive marble hall, where about a hundred goblins sit at their high counters on tall stools, carrying out tasks like weighing coins in brass scales, examining stones through eyeglasses, and handling the inquiries of patrons. There are many more doors leading off of the vast main room. When you have shown a free goblin your key, yet another goblin leads you through a door and onto a small cart, where you are hurtled hundreds of miles below London to your vault. If you have opened a regular vault, the door will open once the key has been placed in the lock and turned. If you have placed an item in a more high-security vault, the goblin will take a long, pointed finger and gently stroke the door. If anyone but a Gringotts goblin were to try that, they would be sucked inside and trapped. According to Griphook, the goblin who served Harry and Hagrid on his first trip to Gringotts, they check the vault for intruders about once every ten years. And he said that with "a rather nasty grin," too! Dosen't say much about the goblins, huh? Suprising, considering Professor Flitwick is probably the sweetest teacher at Hogwarts and he has goblin blood in him. Oh, whatever. Least they aren't serial killers or something, right? Serial killers guarding our money. Ha. Ha. Ha.

GRINGOTTS INSCRIPTION:
Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay dearly in their turn.
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Theif, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.
